For Wednesday, July 4

TV:

What is the all-time best running Saturday Night Live sketch? This doesn't mean it needs to be actively running. Only that it can't have been a one time sketch (so no dick-in-a-box or cowbell etc.).

I won't be around tomorrow, so I wanted to leave my answer a bit early.

The greatest running SNL sketch of all time is the Killer Bees. Seeing some of the greatest comedians of the time dressed up in tights and antennae, making bad puns was so random and probably shouldn't have been funny. I love them, though.

Honorable mention to Matt Foley, the motivational speaker, living in a van DOWN BY THE RIVER along with Mr. Subliminal.

Anything involving Will Ferrel as George W Bush. In fact, anything related to political impersonations ever done on that show. They're all fucking brilliant. (Sum up your campaigns: Gore - "Lockbox", Bush -
"Strategery")

My favorite sketch is relatively new, so I don't think it's gotten much respect yet, but I'm a huge fan of Amy Pohler's "Caitlin," in which she plays an over-zealous 8-year-old who lives with her step-dad Rick (Horatio Sans). She's just priceless in these - the glasses, the lisp, the singing, the running around in footie pajamas. This sketch honestly has me laughing out loud everytime I see it, and that's relatively rare these days in terms of SNL sketches.

Honorable mention: Jimmy Fallon, Rachel Dratch, and Horatio Sans in the "Tommy didja get that!?" Boston sketches. Admit it, back in the day when Nomar was still with the Sox, you loved this sketch. My favorite one is when they go to the wedding and it's Ben Affleck marrying Seth Myers. Amazing.

Ok, this answer doesn't count because I think it was a one-time deal, but I have to put it - "Oops I Crapped My Pants" - who remembers this?

Goulet (dadadeedadadooo....Natuuuuure!)
Jared's Room (white stoners with dreads are just funny).
The Culps. (we got a real hot mic here. a real hot mic).

Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood.

Just pure brilliance from Eddie Murphy, who may well have been the most talented cast member SNL ever had, which is saying a whole hell of a lot.

Matt Foley, Motivational Speaker. The skit was pure gold. Chris Farley's physical comedy was brilliant.
